Y 15 - Wednesday March 18th 2015

Scarborough Spa, Scarborough

Welcome to Yorkshire's annual Y conference is the biggest tourism event in the UK.

The biggest names in cycling will be‎ taking part in the first ever Tour de Yorkshire, and it has been revealed Gary Barlow is writing a Yorkshire musical - just two of the major announcements in the plans to promote Yorkshire in 2015.

The Welcome to Yorkshire Y 15 event at the Scarborough Spa saw the unveiling the teams for the new international cycling race,‎ including star names such as Team Sky, Team Wiggins and Giant Alpecin. Former England cricket star Matt Prior announced his team, ONE Pro Cycling, will also be taking part. See letouryorkshire.com for more details.

‎It was also revealed that Take That star Gary Barlow is penning a new stage musical based on the Calendar Girls, and will be backed by Welcome to Yorkshire. More information will be released after the official launch later this month.

Welcome to Yorkshire also announced that their garden design for RHS Chelsea Flower Show has been accepted - it will feature a microbrewery theme.

The tourism agency also unveiled two major marketing campaigns for 2015. A rural campaign will be launched in June to promote the Yorkshire countryside at its best across the UK on television and in cinemas. And there will also be a new international marketing campaign, part of the GREAT campaign, working closely with Visit Britain to promote Yorkshire in the run up to the Tour de Yorkshire, particularly in France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Wold Top Brewery brews award-winning real ales in a converted barn on our arable farm high on the Yorkshire Wolds, where the rolling hills meet the rugged North Yorkshire coast. We use Wolds grown barley and chalk filtered water from the farm's own borehole to give our ales a distinctive taste of the Wolds that is enjoyed everywhere from East Yorkshire to the Falkland Islands.

We are proud of the business's Yorkshire heritage and of the fact that the chalk filtered water travels only metres from our borehole to the brewery and that the barley is 100% home and Wolds grown.
In the last 11 years, Wold Top Brewery has become one of the North's leading micro breweries and our team of 17 produces a range of cask and bottled beers that are named after inspirational Yorkshire places and events of local significance, including the Tour de France inspired, Hello Vélo.

Wold Top Brewery ales are available online from www.woldtopbrewery.co.uk and from Booths, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Morrisons nationwide and farmers markets, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and restaurants throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
